Description

This module covers the health-related sections of the Bill of Rights and Patients’ Rights Charter. You will learn how to identify appropriate service providers in the local community who can deal with human rights issues. Primary and Secondary health care providers are defined, and the roles of the Department of Health, District and Community health care systems, and state hospitals are discussed. You will learn how to assist community members to access services in accordance with their health-related human rights, and what actions can be taken relating to disabled people, the elderly, and victims of child and sexual abuse. The relevant legislation and local protocols are explained.
